Thompson: "Agents Over Bubbles" + Sharp Tech deep-dive
Big Stratechery week. Thompson's "Agents Over Bubbles" argues we're not in an AI bubble because agents create real enterprise value. Sharp Tech episode covers OpenAI's enterprise pivot, OpenClaw as counter-evidence to his integration thesis, and Nvidia's inference flip at GTC.
Thompson explicitly calls out OpenClaw as evidence against his own thesis that OpenAI/Anthropic have durable integration moats.

OpenAI building desktop "superapp" โ combining ChatGPT, Codex, and browser
WSJ exclusive: OpenAI consolidating its products into a single desktop app. Cutting "side quests" to focus on enterprise. This is the 1980s Microsoft playbook โ bundling everything into one surface.

Karpathy on No Priors โ AI psychosis, agent code quality, engineering phase shift
Multiple signals from Karpathy this week. Podcast on No Priors covering the "phase shift" in engineering. Separately, Karpathy called out agent-generated code as "bloated abstractions with poor aesthetics." Real tension between agent velocity and code craft.

White House AI policy blueprint for Congress
Trump admin published a federal AI regulation framework: light-touch, federal preemption of state AI laws, no new agencies. Carves out state authority for child safety. Thune working to bundle with KOSA. Relevant to BM healthcare clients navigating state-by-state compliance.

๐ Capture Themes (last 48h)
Enterprise Agents Go Financial โ @levie (token budgets, compute per worker), @levie (20 IT leaders: agents biggest thing), Walmart/OpenAI agentic shopping, Anthropic 81K interviews
โ The agent story is shifting from "can we build it" to "who pays for it and how." CFO as AI budget owner. Token spend as operating metric. This is exactly where _M consulting should be positioned: helping enterprises set up the governance layer before spend spirals.
Vibe Design + AI Eats SaaS โ Google Stitch launch, Figma down 80% from IPO, Adobe Firefly custom models, Palantir's Shyam Sankar on "alpha vs beta software"
โ Design tools are the new battleground. Stitch's DESIGN.md = same pattern as AGENTS.md (markdown as agent interface). Figma's 80% drop is T5 in real-time. Sankar's alpha/beta distinction maps to which BM clients survive.
Anthropic Ecosystem Play โ Partner Summit intel (gravity 9.0), 81K interview study, Claude Studio preview
โ BM was in the room (170 partners). $8-12 services revenue per $1 of Anthropic spend. Certifications coming Q2-Q3. This is the AWS partner program moment. Early ecosystem position = compounding advantage.
The Operator Window โ Tyler Cowen "work harder now," Lenny "distribution is the new moat," Greg Isenberg OpenClaw walkthrough, Sharp Tech OpenClaw callout
โ The meta-narrative is crystallizing: the window for operator advantage is NOW and closing. Cowen's Ricardo paradox (carriage maker at the automobile's arrival) is the exact framing for BM client pitches and Wick.tech thesis.

๐ Pipeline: 45+ leads tracked, ~8-10 active in recent weeks (EQT, AutoStore, GreatHillPartners, GaugeCapital, PowerPusher, Tungsten Automation, Tufin, BBG, PointsNorth). PowerPusher SOW still outstanding (Munger flagged this 2 days ago โ trust-eroding loop).
๐ฅ Team: Only commit in 24h = Granola auto-sync. Elli had calls with Siera Himmerich (new lead?) and Leland Lockhart. Services work session held Friday โ discussed DRP X repositioning.
โก Dan's plate: One unread BM email (OpenAI billing funded โ low priority). PowerPusher SOW needs to ship โ it's been promised twice now. No BM meetings today (Saturday). Next action: PowerPusher SOW before Monday.
๐ง Munger Observer (March 19)
System Fragility โ Second-Order Thinking: A single LCM plugin bug triggered a 12-hour outage cascading across 7+ cron jobs. Resilience isn't "don't have bugs" โ it's "no one failure takes down everything."
Commitment Overrun โ Inversion: PowerPusher SOW promised "tomorrow" after a week of sitting. The delay โ apologize โ promise tomorrow loop erodes trust. Fix: never commit to a date without capacity to meet it.
Opportunity Cost of Meta-Work: Pipeline is hot (8+ active leads). Time cataloguing isn't time closing. Awareness โ action.
"Invert, always invert." โ Carl Jacobi (Munger's favorite)

๐ญ Personal Thought
The convergence this week is striking: Levie's token budgets, Thompson's "Agents Over Bubbles," Anthropic's partner summit intel, and Cowen's "work harder now" all point to the same thing โ the agent economy is crossing from theory to budget line item. The enterprises that figure out token governance early will compound; the ones that don't will get surprised like they did with cloud bills in 2015. BM's positioning as the governance + delivery layer is exactly right, but only if the PowerPusher-style execution loops close. The Munger Observer keeps catching the same pattern: hot pipeline, execution drag. The window Cowen describes is open. It won't stay open.
