Mighty Brief

Start Here

  1. OpenAI is reportedly weighing legal action against Apple over the underperforming Siri/ChatGPT deal — The useful read is not the drama. It is that distribution leverage still belongs to the platform owner, even when the model company thinks it has brand momentum.
  2. Calif says Anthropic's Mythos helped build a public macOS kernel memory corruption exploit on Apple M5 — Agent capability is now colliding with real security surfaces. This is the kind of story that turns abstract model progress into operational urgency.
  3. Amjad Masad says Replit worked things out with Apple and the app is back after four months — Small story, big signal. Distribution fights with Apple are now a core operating skill for AI product companies, not edge-case platform drama.
  4. Paul Graham's reminder this morning: the way to get rich is still to make something people want — Good antidote to a feed full of financing rounds, partnership gossip, and model theater.
  5. Aleyda Solis's ecommerce AI search optimization work keeps pushing beyond PDPs and PLPs — If AI discovery changes citation behavior, the optimization surface moves up-stack from pages to knowledge architecture.

BM

Unread scan for dan.wick@blankmetal.ai failed this morning. gog gmail returned invalid_grant / invalid_rapt, so there is no honest inbox read to summarize.
Memory still says the active BM board is Rally, HR&A, Tungsten, Great Hill, Sentinel, Orbis, Care Providers of Minnesota, and Edmunds Govtech. Same pattern as yesterday: plenty of surface area, not enough sequencing.
Best static read remains the same: Rally is the warm narrative lead, Care Providers is still the cleanest scoped AI use case, and Tungsten / Great Hill look like unblock-or-prune decisions. Teams > families applies here too. Pick the starters.

Munger Observer

Opportunity Cost: the open task list is carrying stale March items. Old priorities are still taxing attention after they stopped earning the slot.
Margin of Safety: the dated Minnebar reference is stale, but the principle is still right. Protect slack early so one surprise does not take the whole day.

Personal Thought

It is your 50th birthday today. The best flex is probably not adding more. Clear one stale obligation, protect white space, and spend the recovered attention on the build thread with the highest compounding upside.
