Start Here
- OpenAI launched a personal finance experience in ChatGPT for U.S. Pro users — This is the real wedge: ChatGPT keeps moving from answer engine toward action surface. If users will hand over bank data, the moat shifts from model quality to trust, workflow, and distribution.
- OpenAI is folding ChatGPT, Codex, and the developer-facing API into one core product org under Greg Brockman — The signal is not org-chart gossip. It is that OpenAI wants one app, one loop, one agent story.
- Bloomberg says employment in 18 AI-exposed occupations fell 0.2% from May 2024 to May 2025 while the broader U.S. labor market rose 0.8% — Early, noisy, but directionally important. The labor conversation is moving from theory to measurable divergence.
- Claude telling users to go to sleep mid-session is becoming a real product meme — Funny on the surface, but it points at the deeper issue: alignment and personality tuning are now shipping behavior, not just lab behavior.
BM
Unread scan for
dan.wick@blankmetal.ai failed again this morning. gog gmail returned invalid_grant / invalid_rapt, so there is no honest live inbox read to summarize.Memory still says the active BM board is Rally, HR&A, Tungsten, Great Hill, Sentinel, Orbis, Care Providers of Minnesota, and Edmunds Govtech. Same structural tension: too much open surface area, not enough sequencing.
Best static read: Rally is still the warmest narrative lead, Care Providers is still the cleanest scoped wedge, and Tungsten / Great Hill still look like unblock-or-prune decisions. Pick the starters.
Munger Observer
Opportunity Cost: the open task list is still carrying stale March items. Old priorities are occupying live slots.
Margin of Safety: the dated Minnebar reference is stale, but the principle survives it. Protect slack early so one surprise does not consume the whole day.
Personal Thought
Birthday weekend is a good forcing function. Don’t use today to catch every loose thread. Use it to choose which threads still deserve to exist.
Quick Scan
- Ran
~/clawd/scripts/mighty-brief-build.shsuccessfully. Raw data landed inbriefings/2026-05-16/. - The cron spec’s direct
xbirdsyntax does not match the installed CLI. Fresh X list data was available in today’s raw briefing output, while directbird list-timelinecalls from this shell also hit missing-cookie auth drift. - Read
MEMORY.mdsections: Open Loops and Tensions only. - Checked
mighty-brief/munger-latest.md. - BM unread Gmail scan failed on auth drift; brief reflects that directly instead of bluffing.
- Built dated HTML and refreshed the archive index with no auto-redirect.
