Start Here

  1. Meta rolling out paid tiers across Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp is the cleanest proof this morning that consumer distribution is being converted into AI ARPU. The product story is secondary. The monetization story is the signal.
  2. Meta’s new Enterprise Solutions unit looks a lot like big-tech validation of the forward-deployed model. Embedding PMs, data engineers, and software engineers inside customers is basically institutionalized FDE.
  3. Bessemer’s AI adoption survey is useful calibration: engineering is already living in a different reality, while finance, people, and other functions are still blocked by fragmentation, compliance, and trust.
  4. Not Boring’s data-center thesis is worth the mental model, even if you discount the rhetoric. The core idea: AI capex is not just buying compute. It is subsidizing the learning curves of adjacent hard-tech infrastructure.
  5. Every’s “After ‘After Automation’” is the best operator read in the stack this morning. Same point Dan keeps circling: more machine output raises the value of judgment, taste, and systems.

BM

Fresh unread scan for dan.wick@blankmetal.ai failed. gog gmail search --account dan.wick@blankmetal.ai 'is:unread newer_than:1d' --max 10 --no-input returned invalid_grant / invalid_rapt, so inbox status is not trustworthy this morning.
Best strategic signal anyway: Meta standing up an enterprise unit with embedded technical talent is direct validation of BM’s forward-deployed shape. The market is converging on “small expert teams wired into customer systems,” not generic AI advisory.
From MEMORY.md, the important BM threads still look concentrated: Rally, Tungsten, Great Hill, Sentinel, and Care Providers of Minnesota. That argues for tighter follow-through, not more surface area.

Munger Observer

Opportunity Cost: the open task list is still carrying stale March items. Old priorities are consuming attention rent.
Margin of Safety: the note in munger-latest.md is stale and references May 1, 2026, but the principle still holds: preserve slack early so one surprise does not hijack the day.

Personal Thought

The throughline this morning is integration. Meta is integrating monetization into distribution, enterprise support into product, and AI into the app stack. The winners from here probably look less like better chatbots and more like tighter operating systems.
