Mighty Brief

Saturday, May 30, 2026

Start Here

  1. Microsoft’s security-disclosure blowup is the sharpest signal this morning. When trust with researchers breaks, the cost is not PR — it is future information flow.
  2. Garry Tan’s “money is gasoline, not fire” post is the right operating reminder. If demand is weak, more capital just amplifies confusion.
  3. Karri Saarinen doubling down on “most ambitious teams” is a clean positioning lesson. Narrowing the customer identity can be a growth move, not a constraint.
  4. The anti-anthropomorphism thread Marc boosted is a useful calibration check. The market keeps oscillating between over-worship and under-thinking.
  5. MiniMax prepping for a Chinese IPO with $300M ARR is the global competition reminder. The AI race is not waiting for U.S. incumbents to get organized.

BM

Fresh unread scan for dan.wick@blankmetal.ai failed again. gog gmail search --account dan.wick@blankmetal.ai 'is:unread newer_than:1d' --max 10 --no-input returned invalid_grant / invalid_rapt, so the BM inbox is not trustworthy on Saturday, May 30, 2026.
The stronger signal from memory: BM still has too many simultaneous open loops — Rally, HR&A, Tungsten, Great Hill, Sentinel, Orbis, Care Providers of Minnesota, Edmunds Govtech. This feels like a follow-through day, not a new-frontier day.
The market framing also fits BM well right now: less “AI enablement,” more hard operating leverage. Garry’s fire/gasoline point is the right filter for which clients are actually ready.

Munger Observer

Opportunity Cost: the open task list is still carrying stale March items. That is attention debt, not backlog.
Margin of Safety: munger-latest.md is stale — last updated May 1, 2026 — but the advice still holds: preserve slack around known commitments so one surprise does not consume the whole day.

Personal Thought

Feels like one of those mornings where the edge is not another insight but better sequencing. Fewer fronts. More closure. Saturday is probably better used to reduce drag than invent fresh drag.
